NEW ORLEANS – TEXTURES & PATINAS OF AGE & DECAY

I absolutely love textures of old paint, rusty metal, crumbling plaster, etc.  The patina’s are hard to recreate.  These are just a few photos that I took because of the textures and patinas.  These were taken in the St Louis Cemeteries.  Can you tell I took almost 500 photos?
Burying the dead in crypts is based [...]

NEW ORLEANS – ORNATE IRON WORK

I love all the intricate details that are put into wrought iron especially around crypts.  You see lots of wrought iron around New Orleans.  It is all over homes and businesses.  The patina’s are wonderful on the old ones that are rusting, peeling of paint and disintegrating.  I am surprised how long it lasts in [...]

SUNDAY – FOR JETT

Sunday was to be the day of family visits and leisurely times.  Early Sunday we received a call that my great nephew, Jett, was in the hospital in New Orleans.  My neice and her family were visiting her husbands family hear Hattiesburg, Ms., when Jett got sick.  He had been complaining with tummy aches on [...]

NEW ORLEANS – HISTORY, DEATH AND DECAY

Walking through the cemeteries really makes you feel your mortality.  Someday we will all be gone with nothing left but memories and a grave marker.  I don’t mean to sound morose.  That isn’t my intention.  We should all live life to its fullest and appreciate our family and friends.  Life should be an ever changing, growing [...]

NEW ORLEANS – ANGELS, GUARDIANS & STATUES

Yesterday we went to New Orleans and it was a beautiful day.  The sun was shining and it was breezy.  As a matter of fact my arms got pink.  It doesn’t take me very long to get a little sunburn since I am so pale.  We went to the famous cemeteries and I took about [...]

CHARACTERS

Going through all the old photos that my sister has brings back lots of memories.  There were quite a few characters in my family.  I am sure there are many in other families as well.  I thought I would bring some of them to life on my blog.
My Great Aunt Mary was my mother’s father’s [...]

COMPUTER BLINDNESS & CRAWFISH TAILS

Forgive me for multiple posts in one day.  When I skip 4 days I try to catch up a bit.  Yesterday I was not feeling well.  I had nausea and a slight fever.  The day before I had a very very upset stomach.  And the day before that, Monday, I was getting over the fall [...]

MEMORY LANE

What a week this has been already.  Sunday we were going to visit my aunt and her family.  My cousin was to call with details of when we would get together.  We never got the call.  I didn’t call her either.  I gave her my number on Friday, had sent it to her in an [...]

SATURDAY SHOPPING & FOOD DISASTERS

Saturday morning we took off to shop in a town 30 miles away.  Twisted Sister wanted to go to a Fred’s Dollar Store.  They are the only ones that carries the pink balls that Taz tears up plays with. He can go through two a week. We didn’t eat breakfast before we left so we hoped [...]

TGIF – FOR REAL

I am so glad it is Friday.  That means I can not work for at least a day.  The last two weeks have been very grueling. A grind. A nightmare.  I asked for time off.  It has been a year since I took any time off and that was ruined by someone getting sick.  I [...]
